Did you take CAT way back in high school? If so, what was your rank?
The very mention of CAT, or the Citizen’s Army Training, brought back a lot of memories. Every high school graduate in the Philippines had gone through this rigorous preparatory army training as CAT is included in the high school curriculum. My parents, during their time, also had gone through this course decades ago when it was still known as the Preparatory Military Training, or PMT. The name may have changed over the years but it still has the same principles, same drills. The idea is to instill discipline on the young people, to train them to become good citizens with training in military discipline. CAT is compulsory but those who have physical disabilities or those who have been recommended by doctors as unfit for training (due to health reasons) are exempted from the training, but not the course. The exempted are assigned tasks that do not require physical exertion, such as checking attendance, cleaning, etc.
Those who were physically fit and aspiring to get high ranks underwent training for several weeks in the summer. Still, most of them fainted under the heat of the sun, some were cursing under their breaths, and a lot of them cried buckets of tears because the training was so rigid and rigorous. Those who were tough enough to remain became officers. The presentation of officers and their sponsors is the much awaited event; likewise, the Tactical Inspection is much anticipated. During these events, officers and regular cadets/cadettes were all sharp looking in crisp white shirts (with school logo) and neatly-pressed Tactical Pants.
It was very difficult to find good quality CAT uniforms at that time. But now, you can get it everywhere, including the Net. Tactical Pants USA is the number one shop for all the clothing needs of cadets/cadettes, even law enforcers, with products ranging from tactical pants to tactical shirts, shorts, polos, eyewear, footwear and many more gears. They also carry accessories such as gear bags, jackets, watches, and many others. For all your tactical gear needs – Tactical Pants USA is the best place to go. Exciting freebies await the lucky customers and, what’s more, for every $50 purchase, or more, shipping is offered free of charge!
