Seasoned photographers recommend that the best time to get a good shot of the facade is after 3pm when the sun is on one side and the front of Angkor Wat is illuminated.

Wow! Great Picture! That is beautiful building reflecting in the water.
There are some things that it's almost impossible to take a bad photograph of, and I'm guessing this is one of them. Definitely an awe-inspiring sight and wonderfully captured.
I could spend a lot of time photographing a place like this. Might have to load up on some extra memory cards if I ever get a chance to see it!
To answer your question on my shot, the "infinity" effect comes from using two mirrors facing each other with the candle placed between them. By adjusting the angle of the mirror and/or the angle of the camera, you can change the direction of the repeated reflections. And while it's possible to do it with ordinary mirrors, getting this many repetitions pretty much requires that the mirror nearest the camera be a two-way mirror.
In this shot, I positioned the camera slightly to the left of and above the candle. The camera was mounted on a tripod and I took the shot using mirror lockup and a wireless remote (though a cable release would have worked just as well). I'd have to find the original file and get the EXIF data to confirm it, but I believe the exposure was 4 seconds at f/8.0, ISO 100.
What an amazing place - and the reflection on the water makes this the perfect picture for this week's theme.

AlohaMonkey, it wasn't Angkor Wat where the Amazing Racers went to - it was Bayon temple, another ancient beauty. However, the Angkor Wat was shown in the OBB (Opening Billboard) of Amazing Race. Did you get to watch that particular episode? It was fun, wasn't it?
